Meet Lisset Hanewicz
A Florida native born in Tampa and raised in Miami, Lisset moved to St. Petersburg in 2006 and built a career in public service. She served as an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County and an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida before opening her own law practice in 2014.
Community and family have always been at the heart of Lisset’s work and the driving force behind her commitment to service. After leaving high school to work full-time and help support her family, she immediately enrolled in night school, where she earned her high school diploma. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree and MBA from Florida International University, as well as her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Florida.
Lisset has served as President of the Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association, mentors a student through Pinellas County Schools, and held leadership roles with the Council of Neighborhood Associations and the Shirley Proctor Puller Foundation.
Lisset was elected to St. Petersburg City Council in 2021. She served as Vice-Chair in 2025 and is currently Chair of the St. Petersburg City Council.
